Our Finishes

Our Finishes

At Old Fart Woodcrafts, we believe that a quality finish is just as important as quality craftsmanship. The right finish not only enhances the natural beauty of the wood but also helps protect it from the elements for years of outdoor enjoyment.

We Choose Products We Trust

We don’t select finishes based on flashy advertising or the lowest price. We use products that we believe provide excellent performance and durability because we want our furniture to last.

Our current finish of choice is TWP® (Total Wood Preservative), a professional-grade exterior wood finish known for its ability to penetrate the wood and provide long-lasting protection against moisture and weathering.

Why We Prefer Penetrating Finishes

Unlike heavy surface coatings that can eventually crack or peel, penetrating finishes soak into the wood fibers to help protect from within.

This offers several advantages:

  • Helps repel water and moisture
  • Allows the wood to breathe naturally
  • Preserves the beauty of the wood grain
  • Makes future maintenance easier
  • Reduces the need for extensive sanding or stripping

Color Options

Depending on availability and customer preference, our furniture may be offered in a variety of finish colors, including natural and lightly tinted tones that highlight the character of the wood while providing additional UV protection.

Available colors may include:

  • Natural
  • Honeytone
  • Cedartone
  • Redwood
  • Walnut

Please note that every piece of wood is unique, and the final appearance may vary slightly due to differences in grain and natural color.

Built to Be Maintained

Outdoor furniture is exposed to sun, rain, changing temperatures, and seasonal weather. Even the best finishes require periodic maintenance to keep your furniture looking its best.

We recommend inspecting your furniture annually and applying a maintenance coat when signs of wear begin to appear. Regular care will help maximize the life and beauty of your investment.

Questions?

If you have questions about the finish used on your furniture or need recommendations for future maintenance, we’re always happy to help.

Our goal is simple:

Build it right. Finish it right. Enjoy it for years to come.
