Outdoor Furniture Care Instructions

Thank You

Thank you for purchasing handcrafted outdoor furniture. With proper care and maintenance, your table should provide many years of enjoyment.

General Care

  • Clean the table periodically with mild soap and water.
  • Rinse thoroughly and allow the table to dry completely.
  • Do not use harsh chemicals, bleach, or pressure washers, as they can damage the wood and finish.
  • Wipe up standing water when practical and remove leaves or debris that may trap moisture.

Seasonal Maintenance

At least once each year, inspect the table for signs of weathering.

Look for:

  • Fading or dullness in the finish
  • Areas where water no longer beads on the surface
  • Dry or rough-looking wood
  • Small cracks or checks caused by seasonal movement

If these signs appear, clean the table thoroughly, allow it to dry completely, and apply a maintenance coat of a quality exterior wood finish compatible with the original finish.

Winter Storage

Whenever possible:

  • Store the table under cover during extended periods of non-use.
  • If left outdoors, keep it elevated off standing water.
  • If using a furniture cover, choose one that allows ventilation to prevent trapped moisture.

Wood Characteristics

Wood is a natural material. Variations in color, grain, and small knots are normal and contribute to the unique appearance of each piece.

Seasonal expansion, contraction, and minor checking may occur due to changes in temperature and humidity and do not affect the structural integrity of the furniture.

Hardware

Periodically inspect all bolts, screws, and fasteners and tighten them as needed.

Recoating

The frequency of maintenance depends on climate and sun exposure.

Furniture in full sun may require recoating every 2–3 years, while furniture in shaded or protected areas may go longer between maintenance coats.

Regular maintenance before the finish completely wears away is the best way to keep your furniture looking its best.

“Pressure-treated components may be finished after they have adequately dried. If your furniture includes pressure-treated wood, contact us if you have questions about refinishing or maintenance.”
